LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country team will head back to San Diego County for the second time in a month's time frame with Saturday's Triton Classic Invitational in La Jolla, Calif., on Saturday. The Rebels will compete in the women's 6K, which is scheduled for a 9:45 start. The UC San Diego hosted meet begins at 9:00 am with the men's 8K at 9:00 am.
The Triton Classic will be the first 6K for the UNLV harriers this season after previously running in one 4K (Nevada Twilight Classic) and two 5Ks (Aztec Invitational and UNLV Desert Invitational). UNLV and UCSD are two of 23 programs participating in the meet along with Cal Baptist, Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Bakersfield, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State Northridge, Cal State San Bernardino, Christian Brothers, Concordia, Hawaii Pacific, Loyola Marymount, Marymount College, Orange Coast, Pacific, Point Loma, San Diego, San Diego Christian, San Diego State, Soka, Southwestern and UC Irvine.
"We are looking forward to seeing how we do this weekend," said head coach Jebreh Harris. "We have been very competitive at practice and we are building momentum week by week."
The Rebels, who tied with Cal State Northridge for the top spot at last week's UNLV Desert Invitational with 50 points apice, will travel seven runners - Lauren Petersen, Courtney Allen, Corey Honeycutt, Auzsane Crowe-Carter, Amanda Berg, Katie Cochran and Miranda Menzies - to La Jolla.
