LAS VEGAS - The Rebels cross country team prepares for the Mountain West Championship in two weeks by traveling to Terre Haute, Ind. this weekend to take part in the NCAA Pre-National Meet. The Pre-National Meet is being run on the LaVerne Gibson Course, the same course in which the NCAA Championships will be run.
UNLV will be led by reigning MWC co-runner of the week in Charlotte Browning. Browning is coming off her best performance of the year, running a 17:32.30 at the UC Riverside Invite. That time was the third fastest in UNLV history, and the first time under 18 minutes since 2000.
The field at the Pre-National Meet will be one of the finest of any meet this season, as nine of the top-10 ranked teams will be competing. A total of 23 ranked teams will be running, as the field also features such individual standouts as Arianna Lambie of Stanford, Jenny Barringer of Colorado, Lindsay Donaldson of Yale and Diane Nukuri of Iowa.
The Rebels will count on Jenni Shearer, Jessica Heil and Ali Ainsworth to score well if UNLV looks to compete. Also traveling to Indiana for UNLV will be Gabriela Benito, Samantha Jennings, Laura Lundin and Ashley Silva.
