LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Rebel cross country team will resume competitive racing after nearly a month off between this Friday's Titan Invitational and its own UNLV Invitational, which took place on Sept. 28. This week's meet, a 5K hosted by Cal State Fullerton, will be the final tune-up before the Mountain West Championships on Nov. 1, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Friday's race will be the third consecutive 5K the team has participated in this season after opening up with a 4K in Sparks, Nev., at the Nature's Bakery Twilight Classic.
"We've had some good weeks of training and education," said cross country head coach Jebreh Harris. "This meet is to be competitive, of course, but to enhance how we race as a unit, as we prepare for the Mountain West Championships and the NCAA Regionals."
Auzsane Crowe-Carter has paced the Rebel contingent in each outing this season, which includes a personal-best time of 19:04.90 at the UNLV Invite.
Besides UNLV and Cal State Fullerton, x other programs will be competing in the women's 5K at 4:45 pm. Following the women's race will be the men's 8K that's scheduled to start at 5:15 pm.
