Nov. 9, 2017
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country team head to the Pacific Northwest to participate in the NCAA West Regional Championships Friday morning. The one-day meet is being contested at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle with the University of Washington serving as host. The Rebels will run in the women's 6K at 10:30 am, while the men's 8K will follow one hour later at 11:30 am.
The West Regional is one of nine regional races held around the country Friday. The top-two teams in each race at every regional will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 18. A process of points that teams earned with wins over other NCAA qualifiers throughout the year will determine the next 13 at-large qualifiers.
The Seattle field will feature six women's teams that rank in the top 30 of the most recent USTFCCCA poll, with No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 San Francisco, No. 7 Stanford, No. 11 Boise State and No. 16 Washington. In all, there will be 38 programs represented with four from the Mountain West as well as 10 from the Pac-12, nine from the West Coast Conference and eight from the Big West.
