Nov. 11, 2011
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country team will participate in Saturday's 2011 NCAA West Regional hosted by Stanford University at the Stanford Golf Course. The day begins with the men's 10K race at 10:00 am, which will be followed by the women's 6K race at 11:15 am.
The top two squads in each race automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, along with the top four individuals not on qualifying teams. In addition, teams participating in this weekend's regionals are competing for 13 at-large berths into the Championships.
"The girls have run fairly well all year," said cross country coach Khadevis Robinson. "All of them have run either a personal best or they have run and placed better this year than in previous years. This race is a race for them to mix it up with the best girls in the region and aim for another personal best! This meet will set us up for the upcoming indoor and outdoor track season."
Joining UNLV in the women's race will be six ranked teams, which includes five Pac-12 teams: #6 Washington, #8 Stanford, #11 Oregon, #16 Arizona and #26 California. San Francisco, who is ranked 27th, was the West Coast Conference champion.
