Quintet To Run At NCAA West Regional|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country team will send five of its own to Sacramento, Calif., to participate in the 2013 NCAA West Regional on Friday. The meet, which is being hosted by Sacramento State and the Sacramento Sports Commission at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course, will feature student-athletes from 37 universities from five different states (California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington).
The women's 6K, which includes six squads that are ranked in the latest USTFCCCA's Top 25 - #1 Arizona, #12 Washington, #17 San Francisco, #18 Stanford and #25 Boise State, is scheduled for an 11:45 am start after the men's 10K begins the day's festivities at 10:30 am. Admission to the meet is free, but parking is $5.
The top two teams from each of the nine NCAA regionals will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23. The top four individuals from teams that do not qualify will earn spots at the national meet.
This will be the second 6K that UNLV has participated in with the first being the 2013 Mountain West Championships two weeks ago at the USAF Academy, Colo.
The Rebel contingent will be comprised of Auzsane Crowe-Carter, Ryanne Bailey, Miranda Menzies, Arielle Steimer-Barragan and Sara Williams, who was the top finisher for UNLV at the conference meet with a personal-best time of 24:15.
