Stanford, Calif. - The UNLV women's cross country team wrapped up its season Saturday morning at the NCAA West Regional in Stanford, Calif. at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Rebels finished 26th out of 30 teams from around the West. Four of UNLV's five runners finished with lifetime bests in the 6K.
Seniors Jenni Shearer took 36th with a time of 21:11.67 and Isabella Stoate placed 132nd with a time of 22:39.28. Sophomore Ashley Silva took 161st with a time of 23:12.98. Freshmen Amber Throop finished 194th with a time of 24:59.99 and Erin Murphy followed in 195th with a time of 25:00.03.
"Today was a great way to finish out the season. 4 of our 5 runners had lifetime bests, including our two seniors, Jenni and Isabelle, said head coach Tony Houchin. "That's exactly how you want to close out your collegiate cross country career. We also put three runners on the all-time top 10 cross country list for UNLV."
The meet consisted of 206 individuals and 30 teams. Washington placed first followed by Oregon, host Stanford, Arizona State and Portland rounded out the top five. The top individual of the meet was Alex Kosinski from Oregon with a time of 19:59.01. Mountain West Conference opponent San Diego State finished right behind the Rebels in 27th. UNLV placed 26th last year at the NCAA West Regional.
Washington and Oregon will automatically move on to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 24.
